vRealize Operations Manager 7.5 Install & Configure

vRealize Operations Manager delivers intelligent operations management with application-to-storage visibility across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructures. Using policy-based automation, operations teams automate key processes and improve IT efficiency.

Using data collected from system resources (objects), vRealize Operations Manager identifies issues in any monitored system component, often before the customer notices a problem. vRealize Operations Manager also frequently suggests corrective actions you can take to fix the problem right away. For more challenging problems, vRealize Operations Manager offers rich analytical tools that allow you to review and manipulate object data to reveal hidden issues, investigate complex technical problems, identify trends, or drill down to gauge the health of a single object.

vRealize Operation Manager Deployment consist of two steps, one is deploying the OVF template and second is install and configure vRealize Operation Manager.

Deploy vRealize Operations Manager Appliance

You can download vRealize Operations Manager from the VMware vRealize Operations download page.

Login to vSphere Web client and right click on the cluster where you want to deploy the appliance

Here you can either provide the download URL or you can provide the location of OVA local file which is already downloaded.

Select the Virtual Machine Name and Folder

Select the Compute Resource and Click Next

Review the details of vRealize Operation Manager

Read and Accept the EULA of vRealize Operation Manager and Click Next

Choose the type of deployment according to your infrastructure, you can verify the respective description details of each deployment. Click Next

Select the Datastore where you want to store the vRealize Operation Manager Appliance and also you can select the virtual disk format.

Select the Destination Port Group for the Appliance and Click Next

Configure the Network Settings like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS, Time zone etc.

Review the configuration you have done and Click Finish to start the Deployment

In the Recent Task tab, you can see the deployment status

Once the deployment is completed Power On the appliance and wait to completely initialize the vRealize Operation Manager.

Once you get the above screen the appliance is successfully initialized, and you can access the appliance by IP Address of FQDN.

Install & Configure vRealize Operations Manager

Accessing the vRealize Operation Manager Appliance with IP Address of FQDN you will get a window like below, Click on New Installation

Click Next to proceed with Installation

Set Admin Password here and Click Next

Choose certificate on next window if you have any custom certificate or you can go ahead with default one and Click Next

Provide vRealize Operation Manager Master node name and NTP server details to time sync, Click Next

If you want to configure the High Availability for vRealize Operation Manager, provide existing node details. As we don’t have any existing node Click Next to proceed with installation

Click Finish to continue the cluster configuration

Once you Finish you can see the Appliance wizard is configuring the vRealize Operation Manager.

After the configuration you can see the cluster status as Not Started, Start the vRealize Operation Manager Cluster

You will get a prompt to Confirm First Application Startup

After starting the vRealize Operation Manager Cluster, you will get below page to login

Use admin and Password which is provided while configuring to login

After login Click Next to Continue

Read and Accept the EULA of vRealize Operation Manager and Click Next

Provide vRealize Operation Manager license key here or continue with Evaluation and Click Next

You can join VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program here and Click Next

Click Finish to complete the Installation and Configuration

Once you successfully configure the vRealize Operation Manager will get a home screen like below

Now will configure vCenter Adapter in vRealize Operation Manager. Go to Administration tab and Click Configure to configure the vCenter Adaptor

Add vCenter Server details and add the credentials to connect vCenter

Test the vCenter Server connection and Accept the Certificate pop up and Save the connection

Once saved you can the see the vCenter Adaptor Collection State as Collecting and Collection status as Data Receiving as below

 Once the Data collection is completed you can see the vCenter status in vRealize Operation Manager Dashboard like below.
